Founded in 1935 in Tokyo, Japan — originally to commercialize ferrite, a magnetic material invented at Tokyo Institute of Technology — TDK Corporation has spent nearly nine decades transforming materials science into advanced electronic components. Through acquisitions including EPCOS (2009), Micronas (2016), InvenSense (2017), and Chirp Microsystems (2018), TDK now spans passive components, sensors, energy devices, and magnetic heads.

TDK's capacitor portfolio includes high-reliability automotive MLCCs (CGA series), aluminum electrolytic capacitors (EPCOS), and film capacitors for DC-link and AC filtering in EV inverters and solar converters.
