About Microsemi
Originally founded as a Motorola subsidiary and later operating independently from Chandler, Arizona, Microsemi was acquired by Microchip Technology in 2018 for $8.35 billion. Microsemi brought world-class FPGA, timing (Symmetricom, Vitesse), power (Actel), and security technology into Microchip's portfolio, creating the broadest defense-grade semiconductor platform in the industry.
Microsemi's FPGA families are differentiated by flash-based non-volatile architecture — PolarFire FPGAs feature live-at-power-up with no configuration bitstream to protect, while IGLOO2 and SmartFusion2 add embedded hard ARM Cortex-M3 processors. The company's timing solutions (TimeProvider, SyncServer) are deployed in 5G base stations, financial trading networks, and national timing infrastructure. Microsemi also produces radiation-hardened (RT, RTAX) FPGAs qualified for 100+ krad(Si) total ionizing dose in space applications.
On Octatronics, search Microsemi products by MPF (PolarFire), M2GL (IGLOO2), M2S (SmartFusion2), and RT-prefix part numbers. Submit RFQs for both commercial and QPL/QML defense-grade components.
