About Fairchild Semiconductor
Fairchild Semiconductor was founded in 1957 in San Jose, California, by the "Traitorous Eight" — a group of engineers including Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore who would go on to found Intel. Fairchild is widely credited with inventing the commercial integrated circuit and birthing Silicon Valley. After decades of independent operation, Fairchild was acquired by ON Semiconductor (now onsemi) in 2016.
While Fairchild operates under the onsemi umbrella, many of its product families retain strong brand recognition and active production status. The SuperFET III MOSFET family delivers best-in-class RDS(on) × Qg performance for server SMPS and telecom rectifiers. FAN-prefix power management ICs (FAN7530, FAN7688, FAN6754) are widely used in PFC controllers, LLC resonant converters, and LED lighting drivers.
